Dubai Studio City Recognises Talented Amateur UAE Filmmakers

Dubai Studio City, the region’s leading community for the broadcasting, production and events sectors, hosted an exclusive felicitation ceremony to give away certificates to all the attendees of its third season of the content development workshops.

During the ceremony, Dubai Studio City renewed its commitment through its platform CineMENA which is set to organize events to celebrate the art of content creation and nurture local talent in the field.

Held throughout last year, the workshops drew the participation of over 500 amateur and professional filmmakers and content creators, and underlined Dubai Studio City’s commitment to the media, film, entertainment and content creation industries.

Majed Al Suwaidi, Managing Director of Dubai Studio City, said: “The workshops that were first launched three years ago and continue to this day, have resonated with our multicultural creative community. They are aligned with our vision to continue supporting our dynamic industry through providing platforms to showcase local and regional talent. The attendance at the workshops reinforces our efforts and underlines our efforts to support individuals looking to enhance their knowledge and practically apply these learnings to produce better content in the future.

He added: “These workshops serve as a step forward to CineMENA, a platform that has generated high interest since it was announced late last year. We look forward to supporting the region’s creative talent more effectively with its diverse activations when it officially gets underway in Q4 2019.”

Hosted in collaboration with Emirati production house ‘Behind The Scenes’, the workshops took place at in5 Media, an innovation centre within Dubai Production City that supports entrepreneurs and startups in the media domain. The collaboration with in5, a platform for startups and entrepreneurs, aims to provide aspiring content creators with the required production facilities to grow and foster within this field.

Set to encourage the creative community across the MENA region to develop more content, from all content creators, CineMENA will provide networking opportunities and comprise multiple activations. An exhibition showcasing the latest technologies and trends, talent exhibition, and thought sessions focused on all aspects of the art and craft of content creation are likely to be high on the agenda.
